Best Publer Alternatives in 2026: 7 Tools Compared

What's the best Publer alternative? Postprism is the best Publer alternative in 2026: it publishes to 6 networks with a native version of every post for $19 a month flat, so one brand on all 6 networks costs $19 instead of $24 on Publer Professional or $42 on Business, approvals start at $49 for three brands and three people, and its MCP server for AI agents is on every plan. Buffer suits solo users who want a simple free start, SocialPilot suits agencies on a budget, SocialBee suits evergreen content recycling, Metricool suits analytics-led marketers, Later suits Instagram-first visual planning, and Hootsuite suits larger teams that need an inbox.

Publer is a well-liked scheduler. It has a real free plan, a long feature list, a wide network list that includes Google Business Profile, Mastodon, Telegram and WordPress, and an entry price of $5 a month. People start looking for a Publer alternative for practical reasons: Publer prices every social account and every extra member separately, so the bill climbs as a brand adds networks or a team adds people, and approvals, analytics and unlimited AI prompts only arrive on the Business plan. If you are weighing just the two products, our head-to-head page, Postprism vs Publer, covers that comparison in detail. This guide looks wider, ranking seven tools on cost at realistic sizes, approvals, per-network AI writing and agent access, with every competitor price checked on the vendor's own page in October 2026.

Why Postprism is the Publer alternative to pick

  • Flat pricing that does not count accounts or members. Solo is $19 a month ($14 billed yearly), Freelancer $49 and Agency $99, with unlimited posts on every plan. A workspace connects one account on each of the 6 networks, so one brand on all 6 networks is $19, three brands are $49 and ten brands are $99. Team members are included in the plan, not charged one by one. See pricing.
  • A native version for every network in one request. Write once, click Enhance with AI, and Postprism returns a separate, editable version for every network you selected: a fuller LinkedIn post, a short X post, a YouTube description. Plans include 150, 500 or 2,000 AI adaptations a month. See AI content adaptation.
  • Approvals included from $49. Freelancer gives 3 workspaces and 3 members with an approval step; Agency gives 10 of each. On Publer, approvals are a Business feature priced per account and per member.
  • Your AI agent can run it via MCP, on every plan. Postprism's hosted MCP server gives Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other MCP clients 11 tools to list workspaces, upload media, draft, schedule, edit and report on posts. Posts an agent creates without a date wait as drafts on your calendar. See AI agents.

Key findings

  • Publer charges per account and per member. Publer's plans and pricing article (last updated 15 September 2026) lists Professional from $5 a month and Business from $10 a month for 1 social account, with the total rising as you add accounts and members. The calculator on Publer's plans page works out to about $4 per account on Professional and $7 on Business, plus $2 or $3 per additional member, with every 10th account or member free.
  • Publer's free plan is real. It covers 1 user, 1 workspace, 3 social accounts (not X), 10 scheduled posts per account at a time, 25 saved drafts and a 24-hour published post history.
  • The useful features sit on Business. Unlimited AI Assist prompts, advanced analytics, best times to post, competitor analysis, post recycling, recurring posts and approval workflows are listed on Business, according to Publer's plan comparison.
  • Publer's MCP access is narrow for now. Publer's MCP help article says MCP is on Business and Enterprise, and also that "at the moment it's available with the Top Ambassadors on the Enterprise plan." Its API is for Business customers in good standing.
  • Agent access elsewhere varies. Buffer has an official remote MCP server, SocialPilot lists MCP on all paid plans, Metricool's MCP works on any plan including Free, Hootsuite has MCP servers for its products, and SocialBee is reachable through Zapier's MCP server.
  • Postprism stays at $19 for one brand on any or all of its 6 networks, and moves to $49 or $99 only when you add brands, client workspaces or team members.

What Publer costs at realistic sizes, against Postprism and the rest

Per-account, per-profile, per-brand, per-seat and flat pricing behave very differently as you grow. The table shows four common setups and the lowest plan on each vendor's page that covers them, at monthly billing unless it says otherwise. "Approvals" means the setup needs someone to sign off on posts. All competitor prices were checked October 2026 and link to the vendor's pricing page.

How the Publer figures are worked out: Publer's calculator charges $5 or $10 for one account, $4.50 or $8.50 each for two, then $4 per account on Professional and $7 on Business, with $2 or $3 per additional member and every 10th account or member free. Fifteen accounts therefore bill as 14, and fifty as 45. Yearly billing on Publer is 20% cheaper, and Postprism's yearly prices are $14, $36 and $75 a month.

Where Publer is cheaper, plainly: for one to four accounts, Publer's free plan costs nothing and Professional costs $5 to $16 a month, which is less than Postprism Solo's $19 monthly price. From five networks up, the maths flips: Publer Professional reaches $20 at five accounts and $24 at six, while Postprism stays at $19. Once approvals and a small team are involved, Publer Business at $104 for three brands compares with $49 on Postprism Freelancer, and at ten brands $327 compares with $99 on Postprism Agency.

How we ranked these Publer alternatives

Every tool was judged on the same five questions, using each vendor's own pricing and help pages in October 2026. We weighted the first two most heavily, because they are why people leave Publer.

What Publer does well, and where it gets harder

Before the list, it is worth being clear about Publer's strengths, because they are real and they are why it has so many fans.

  • A free plan and a low entry price. The free plan covers 3 accounts (not X), and Professional starts at $5 a month for one account, with a 7-day trial of Professional and a 14-day trial of Business.
  • A wide network list. Publer's integrations list Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Threads, LinkedIn profiles and company pages, Bluesky, Google Business, Mastodon, X, Telegram, YouTube, WordPress and TikTok, with Reels, Stories and Shorts among the formats.
  • A generous Professional plan. Unlimited scheduling and drafts, unlimited workspaces, unlimited media storage, Canva, Linkie link in bio, bulk scheduling, RSS automations and per-network post times are all on Professional.
  • Big CSV imports. Publer's CSV guide says you can create up to 500 posts from one file.
  • Evergreen tools on Business. Spintax-powered post recycling, recurring posts and best times to post are listed on Business.

Where it gets harder is the shape of the bill. Each account adds $4 or $7 a month, each extra person adds $2 or $3, and the features a small team usually wants first, approvals, analytics and unlimited AI, need Business. A brand that grows from four networks to nine, or a freelancer who takes on a second and third client, sees the total move every time. Those are the gaps the tools below fill in different ways.

1. Postprism: For anyone who wants native posts on every network at a flat price

Postprism is a social media scheduler that publishes to X, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Bluesky and Pinterest from one calendar. Its idea is simple: write once, publish natively on every platform, and let your AI agent run it via MCP if you want. Each post holds a separate, editable version for every network you pick, so you never have to send the same caption everywhere. For the direct comparison, read Postprism vs Publer.

Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial.

Why Publer users pick it

  • Enhance with AI. One click returns a version of your post for every selected network, shaped to each one's length and style. Anything over a network's limit turns red so you can edit it, and nothing is trimmed without you seeing it.
  • Brand identity. The AI writes with your saved brand name, industry, tone, values, audience and key messages, so drafts sound like you from the start. See brand voice.
  • Analytics on every plan. Impressions, reach, clicks, engagement rate and top posts for 30, 60 or 90 days, without moving to a higher tier. See analytics.
  • Calendar and kanban. Month, week and day views with a platform filter, a kanban board with Drafts, Scheduled and Published columns, and a Generate content plan button that builds a 4-week plan.
  • Agents. The hosted MCP server's 11 tools cover posts, media, analytics, platforms and workspaces. Claude and ChatGPT setup guides walk through connecting in a few minutes.
  • Clients and approvals. Freelancer and Agency give each client a workspace, with Owner, Admin, Editor and read-only Viewer roles, and an approval step where Owners and Admins approve or request changes.
  • Time zones per post. Set the time zone when you schedule, so a client in another region publishes at their local time.

Choose Postprism if you post one brand to five or more networks, run a few brands with a small team that needs approvals, want each network to get its own version without rewriting by hand, or want an AI agent to draft and schedule into a calendar you review. Start a 7-day free trial.

2. Buffer: For solo users who want a simple free start

Buffer's pricing page (checked October 2026) prices by channel. The free plan covers up to 3 channels, 10 scheduled posts per channel and 1 user. Essentials is $5 a month per channel ($60 a year) with 1 user, and Team is $10 a month per channel ($120 a year) with unlimited users. Channels above 10 cost less per channel, and paid plans have a 14-day free trial.

  • AI: the AI Assistant is included on every plan, Free included.
  • Approvals: content approval workflows and access levels come with Team.
  • API: every plan includes API keys, from 1 key and 3,000 requests a month on Free to 5 keys and 15,000 on Team.
  • Agents: Buffer's Claude integration page describes a remote MCP server at mcp.buffer.com/mcp for drafting posts, reviewing the queue and scheduling from Claude. The page does not say which plans include it.
  • Analytics: Free has a 30-day Insights history; paid plans add advanced analytics.

Choose Buffer if you want a clean, simple tool for two or three channels and are happy on a free plan for now. Like Publer, the price rises with every channel, and approvals double the per-channel rate. See our Buffer alternative page or the full Buffer alternatives guide.

3. SocialPilot: For agencies on a budget

SocialPilot's pricing (checked October 2026) bundles accounts and users into four plans, with about 15% off when billed yearly:

PlanMonthlyBilled yearlyAccountsUsersAI credits
Essentials$30$25.50/month71500
Standard$50$42.50/month1531,000
Premium$100$85/month2565,000
Ultimate$200$170/month50UnlimitedUnlimited
  • Extras: an extra social account is $4 a month and an extra user $5.
  • Approvals: approvals start at Standard; client approval workflows and client management start at Premium.
  • Bulk: bulk scheduling and CSV upload start at Premium.
  • Agents: an MCP server is listed on all paid plans, and the MCP server page covers setup. API access is on Enterprise.
  • White label: white-label reports from Premium, advanced white label from Ultimate.
  • Networks: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, Threads, TikTok, Pinterest, YouTube, Google Business Profile and Bluesky.

Choose SocialPilot if you run an agency with many accounts and want white-label reports and client approvals in a bundle rather than per account. Note that bulk CSV upload, which is on every Postprism plan and on Publer Professional, starts at SocialPilot's $100 Premium plan. See our SocialPilot alternative page.

4. SocialBee: For evergreen content recycling

SocialBee's pricing page (checked October 2026) lists Bootstrap at $29 a month ($290 a year) with 5 social profiles, Accelerate at $49 ($490 a year) with 10 profiles and Pro at $99 ($990 a year) with 25 profiles, 3 users per workspace and 5 workspaces. Agency plans run from Pro50 at $179 a month for 50 profiles and 10 workspaces to Pro150 at $449. Every plan has a 14-day free trial.

  • Recycling: content recycling is on every plan, with 10 content categories on Bootstrap, 50 on Accelerate and unlimited on Pro. The features page describes recycling top-performing posts and best posting time recommendations.
  • Approvals and CSV: the post approval system and CSV uploads start at Accelerate.
  • Inbox: comments, mentions and DMs in one inbox on every plan.
  • Analytics: 3 months of history on Bootstrap, 2 years and advanced analytics from Accelerate.
  • Agents: SocialBee connects to AI clients through Zapier's MCP server, which offers a post trigger and a Create Post action.
  • Networks: Facebook, Instagram, Threads, LinkedIn, X, Pinterest, TikTok, YouTube, Google Business Profiles and Bluesky.

Choose SocialBee if you run a library of evergreen posts in categories and want them to recycle automatically on a fixed plan price. Watch the user limits: Bootstrap and Accelerate allow 1 user per workspace. See our SocialBee alternative page.

5. Metricool: For analytics-led marketers

Metricool's pricing page (checked October 2026) prices by brand, where a brand is all of one company's social profiles.

PlanBilled yearlyBilled monthlyBrands
Free$0$01 brand, 20 scheduled posts a month, no LinkedIn or X
StarterFrom $20/monthFrom $25/monthUp to 5 brands, or up to 10 at a higher tier
AdvancedFrom $53/monthFrom $67/monthUp to 15 brands, with tiers for 25 and 50
  • Agents: Metricool's MCP FAQ says the MCP works with any plan, including Free, and can schedule and edit posts, create drafts for review and read analytics. The Metricool API (Zapier, Make) is on Advanced.
  • Teams: team and client management, role management and the post approval system are on Advanced.
  • X: X is not on Free, and paid plans need the X add-on.
  • Reports: PDF and PPT reports and unlimited analytics history from Starter; customisable report templates on Advanced.
  • Networks: Instagram, Facebook, Threads, Bluesky, Pinterest, TikTok, YouTube, Twitch, LinkedIn (paid plans), Google Business Profile and X via add-on, plus ads accounts.

Choose Metricool if reporting and competitor analysis are your main deliverable and you manage several small brands. See our Metricool alternative page.

6. Later: For Instagram-first visual planning

Later's pricing page (checked October 2026) shows plans billed yearly: Starter at $18.75 a month with 1 social set (8 profiles, one per network) and 1 user, Growth at $37.50 with 2 social sets (16 profiles) and 2 users, and Scale at $82.50 with 6 social sets (48 profiles) and 4 users. Each has a 14-day free trial.

  • Post limits: Starter schedules up to 30 posts per profile a month, Growth up to 180, and Scale is unlimited.
  • AI: 5, 50 or 100 AI credits a month.
  • Collaboration: approvals and a social inbox start at Growth.
  • Add-ons: on Growth and Scale, an extra social set is $11.25 a month, an extra user $3.75, and 100 extra AI credits $3.75.
  • Networks: Instagram, Facebook, Threads, Pinterest, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube and Snapchat.
  • Agents: the pricing page does not mention an API or an MCP server.

Choose Later if Instagram and TikTok are the centre of your plan and you want a visual-first workflow. The social set model is good value when you have one profile per network, though X and Bluesky are not on its list. See our Later alternative page.

7. Hootsuite: For larger teams that need an inbox

Hootsuite's plans page (checked October 2026) lists Standard from $99, Professional from $199 and Advanced up to $399, per user a month, with displayed prices based on annual billing. Standard covers 10 social accounts; Professional and Advanced cover unlimited accounts. Each plan has a 14-day free trial, and Enterprise is quoted.

  • Inbox: every plan has one inbox for messages; Professional adds automated replies and Advanced adds assignment and auto-routing.
  • Approvals: content review and approval with your team is listed on Advanced.
  • AI: every plan includes Wisdom, Hootsuite's AI teammate, with AI post and image generation on Standard.
  • Agents: Hootsuite's MCP page describes MCP servers to schedule posts, triage the inbox and get listening insights from ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot and Gemini, for accounts with access to the relevant product.
  • Networks: Hootsuite's integrations cover publishing to Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, X, LinkedIn, Threads, Pinterest and Bluesky.

Choose Hootsuite if customer care, a shared inbox and listening matter as much as publishing, and the budget is per seat. For one person on five networks, Standard costs about five times Postprism Solo. See our Hootsuite alternative page.

How to choose a Publer alternative

Start from what you post and who touches it, not from a feature list. Five questions settle most decisions.

  1. How many accounts will you have in 12 months? Count every profile, Page and account across every brand, then price that number in each tool. Per-account pricing looks cheap at three and expensive at thirty.
  2. Who else needs to see or approve posts? If a client or manager signs off, check which plan unlocks approvals and whether each extra person costs more. On Publer it is Business plus a per-member fee, on Postprism Freelancer, on SocialPilot Standard, on SocialBee Accelerate.
  3. Do you want each network to get its own post? If your LinkedIn, X and Instagram audiences want different things, a tool that creates a version per network in one step saves the most time.
  4. Will an AI agent do part of the work? Decide whether the agent drafts for review or publishes directly, then check where MCP sits on each tool's plans and whether it is actually open to you today.
  5. Which networks and formats earn results? Make sure the formats you rely on, such as full YouTube videos, Instagram carousels or TikTok photo posts, are covered, and that any extra destinations you use, such as Google Business Profile, are on the list.

Why people switch from Publer

The bill grows with every account

Publer's per-account model is fair at small sizes, and that is why so many people start there. It becomes the reason they leave once a brand adds a TikTok, a YouTube channel, a Bluesky account and a Pinterest board. One brand on 6 networks pays $24 a month on Professional and $42 on Business. On Postprism, the same brand pays $19.

Every extra person costs more

On Publer, the plan owner is included, and each additional member adds $2 a month on Professional or $3 on Business. That is small for one helper, but it means the price moves every time a freelancer brings in a writer or a client wants a login. Postprism includes 3 members on Freelancer and 10 on Agency, and a client can be invited as a read-only Viewer.

The features small teams want first are on Business

Approvals, advanced analytics and unlimited AI prompts are listed on Business, at about $7 per account rather than $4. A three-brand freelancer who needs sign-off therefore pays Business rates on all 15 accounts: $104 a month on monthly billing. Postprism includes analytics on every plan and approvals from $49.

One post at a time, network by network

Publer's AI Assist writes posts and images, and you can customise a post for each network yourself. The difference in Postprism is the workflow: one click on Enhance with AI returns a version for every network you selected in a single request, each editable side by side, with over-limit text flagged in red. Our post on whether cross-posting hurts reach explains why separate versions matter.

Agents that are open to everyone

Publer lists MCP on Business and Enterprise, while its own help article says it is currently with Top Ambassadors on Enterprise. Postprism's MCP server is on every plan, works across workspaces for agencies, and keeps any post without a date as a draft for a person to review, so an agent can do the first pass while a human keeps control. Our guide to the best schedulers for AI agents compares this across the market.

A worked example: a freelancer with three clients

Consider Maya, a fictional freelance social media manager. She runs three clients: a dental clinic, a yoga studio and a local bakery. Each posts to LinkedIn, X, TikTok, YouTube and Pinterest, which is 15 accounts. Maya has a part-time writer, and the clinic's practice manager wants to approve posts before they go out.

  • Publer Professional: 15 accounts bill as 14 at $4, plus 2 members at $2, which is $60 a month, but Professional has no approval workflow.
  • Publer Business: 14 billed accounts at $7 plus 2 members at $3 is $104 a month, with approvals, analytics and unlimited AI prompts.
  • Postprism Freelancer: $49 a month ($36 billed yearly), with each client in its own workspace, the practice manager approving in the Approvals queue, analytics for every client, and room for all six networks in each workspace if a client adds Bluesky later.

The saving is real, but the bigger change is the work. Instead of writing a caption and reshaping it for each network, Maya writes once, clicks Enhance with AI and gets a TikTok caption, a LinkedIn post, a Pinterest description and the rest, each ready to edit. When the bakery asks to add Bluesky, her bill does not change.

How to switch from Publer to Postprism

A clean switch takes an afternoon for one brand. Keep two weeks queued in Publer while you set up, so nothing goes quiet during the move.

  1. List what is scheduled. Open your Publer calendar and put the next four weeks of posts into a spreadsheet with three columns: content, scheduled_at and, where a post has an image or video, media_url.
  2. Start the trial and create workspaces. Sign up, then create one workspace per brand or client before connecting anything.
  3. Connect your networks. Connect X, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Bluesky and Pinterest accounts in each workspace.
  4. Set up your brand identity. Add your industry, tone, values, audience and key messages so Enhance with AI writes in your voice.
  5. Bulk Upload the CSV. Save the spreadsheet as CSV (up to 200 rows and 2 MB per file, on every plan), choose the platforms for the upload and check the preview. Split larger queues into several files. For XLSX or JSON, or files in Google Drive or Dropbox, use the AI Scheduling Assistant instead. See bulk scheduling.
  6. Add per-network versions. Open your most important posts and click Enhance with AI to give each network its own version.
  7. Invite your team and clients. Add writers as Editors and clients as Viewers or Admins, and turn on approvals for workspaces where someone signs off.
  8. Connect your agents. If you want Claude or ChatGPT to draft, connect them to Postprism's MCP server and ask for one week of drafts to test.
  9. Pause, then cancel. Pause or delete Publer's remaining scheduled posts before your first Postprism post goes out, then cancel once a full week has published.

Our guide to bulk scheduling tools covers spreadsheet formats in more depth.

The verdict

Publer is a good tool for one person on a few accounts, and its free plan and $5 entry price are hard to beat at that size. Once you pass four accounts, add a second person, need approvals or want each network to get its own post, Postprism is the best Publer alternative: $19 a month flat for 6 networks, a native version of every post from one click of Enhance with AI, analytics, Bulk Upload and an MCP server for AI agents on every plan, and client workspaces with approvals from $49. Choose Buffer for a simple free start, SocialPilot for agency bundles with white-label reports, SocialBee for evergreen recycling, Metricool for analytics, Later for Instagram-first planning and Hootsuite for an enterprise inbox.
