Connect ChatGPT to social media
Can ChatGPT post to social media? Yes, through a connector. ChatGPT can use the Postprism MCP server as a custom connector on plans that support developer mode, and then create, schedule and analyse posts for 6 networks. The posts appear on your Postprism calendar, where you review them before they publish.
How to connect ChatGPT to Postprism
What you need
- A ChatGPT plan that allows custom MCP connectors (developer mode). OpenAI controls which plans include it, so check your settings.
- A Postprism account with at least one social account connected

Turn on developer mode
In ChatGPT, open Settings > Apps & Connectors > Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode. Workspace admins may need to allow it first.

Create the Postprism connector
Choose Create connector, name it Postprism, paste the MCP server URL below and choose OAuth as the authentication.

Sign in and approve
ChatGPT opens Postprism to sign in. Approve access and return to ChatGPT.

Use it in a chat
Start a new chat, enable the Postprism connector from the tools menu, and ask “Which social accounts are connected in Postprism?”
What it looks like
Write five X posts for our new cold brew, one per day starting Monday at 11 AM. Save them as drafts in Postprism.
ChatGPT writes the posts, asks you to confirm before calling create_post (write actions always ask), and five drafts appear on your Postprism calendar. You attach the photos in Postprism before scheduling.

Working well with ChatGPT
Expect confirmations
ChatGPT asks before any write action, such as creating or deleting a post. That is the point: you stay in control.
Attach media in Postprism
For Pinterest, TikTok and YouTube, it is often faster to add the image or video in Postprism after ChatGPT drafts the copy.
Limits to know
- The agent works inside your Postprism workspace. It can only post to social accounts you have already connected in Postprism; connecting a new account always happens in Postprism, through each network’s own sign-in.
- Each network’s own rules still apply: Pinterest Pins need an image, TikTok and YouTube need a video, X posts are capped at 280 characters, and Bluesky at 300.
- Media has to be uploaded with upload_media first (JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, MP4 or MOV, up to 10 MB per file). Links to files hosted elsewhere are rejected.
- A post created without a date is saved as a draft. A post created with scheduled_at is scheduled and publishes automatically, so ask for drafts if you want to review first.
- The MCP server allows 200 requests per hour per user, which is plenty for planning a month of posts but not for bulk-migrating thousands.
