Best Time to Post on Pinterest in 2026: Daily and Seasonal Timing

The best time to post on Pinterest in 2026 is Tuesday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., or weekday evenings from 8 to 11 p.m., in your audience's time zone. But the season matters far more than the hour: publish seasonal Pins 45 to 60 days before people search, and post fresh Pins consistently.

Pinterest is the one major network where the time of day is a minor lever. It works more like a visual search engine than a feed. Hootsuite's research puts it plainly: Pinterest "prioritizes content through searchability rather than recency," and Tailwind, which studied 1.2 million organic Pins, found that "timing didn't predict success." What does predict success is being ready when demand rises. People plan holidays, weddings, renovations and recipes weeks ahead, and a Pin can keep earning clicks for months or years. This guide covers the daily windows the studies agree on, why they disagree, how timing changes by day, niche, season, audience and region, and a step-by-step method for building a Pinterest calendar around search demand rather than the clock.

Key findings: the best time to post on Pinterest

What's changed on Pinterest in 2026

Most "best time to post on Pinterest" advice is recycled from years ago. These are the changes that matter now.

The native scheduler is tighter than old guides say

Older articles often say you can schedule Pins two weeks ahead and queue up to 100. The current Pinterest Help article says you can schedule a Pin up to 30 days in advance, one at a time, with up to 10 Pins scheduled for the future. After scheduling you can change the date, title, board, description and link, but "You cannot edit the image or video content of your Pin." Ten Pins is a few days of output for an active account, which is why most businesses use a third-party scheduler for Pinterest.

Growth is coming from outside the U.S. and from Gen Z

Pinterest reported 640 million monthly active users in Q2 2026, up from 578 million a year earlier, according to its earnings release. U.S. and Canada grew 4% to 106 million, Europe grew 8% to 157 million and the rest of the world grew 15% to 377 million. Pinterest's audience page says Gen Z makes up 50% of its global user base and is its fastest-growing audience. A Pinterest audience is now less likely to be in the U.S. than ever, which makes "post at 8 p.m. Eastern" advice less useful for many accounts.

Trends last longer, and Pinterest is publishing them earlier

Pinterest published its Pinterest Predicts 2026 report on 9 December 2025, with 21 trends. It says 88% of its predicted trends over the past six years came true, and that Pinterest trends last nearly twice as long as trends elsewhere online. For timing, that means the window around a Pinterest trend is measured in months, so publishing early matters more than publishing at the perfect hour.

AI labels and Pinterest Assistant

Pinterest now shows an "AI modified" label on Pins where its systems detect that AI was used to generate or modify the image, or where the creator disclosed it. It is also testing Pinterest Assistant, a conversational shopping and discovery tool available in beta to U.S. users aged 18 and over on iPhone. Neither changes the clock, but both reinforce that original, clearly described Pins are what Pinterest wants to surface.

Visual search is growing faster than text

Pinterest's holiday planning page says that during the last holiday season, visual searches grew 2.3 times faster than text-based searches year over year. People increasingly find Pins by image, not by typing, so the image itself has to do the work whenever someone searches, at whatever hour.

Does the time of day matter on Pinterest?

A little. The best evidence suggests the hour you post has a small effect compared with everything else.

Pinterest distributes Pins through search, the home feed and related Pins, and those surfaces keep showing a good Pin for a long time. Hootsuite's best-time study says "Unlike other platforms, Pinterest prioritizes content through searchability rather than recency," and quotes Hootsuite's Eileen Kwok: "In my experience, the platform prioritizes your SEO strategy over the time you post." Tailwind's large Pin study went further. Finding 14 of its benchmark study is "There is no universal best time to post on Pinterest," because timing did not predict which Pins drove outbound clicks; consistency and fresh content did. Tailwind's help centre sums it up: "Consistency wins. A steady cadence beats chasing an ideal moment."

So why bother with times at all? Because the first hours still give a new Pin its initial impressions, and because a consistent daily rhythm is easier to keep if each Pin has a slot. The right mental model is that time of day is a tiebreaker, while the time of year is the main event.

On Pinterest, the most important "time to post" is not 8 p.m. It is six to eight weeks before the moment your audience starts searching. Get the season right and the hour barely matters; get the season wrong and no hour will save the Pin.

What the studies say about the best time to post on Pinterest

There are two broad camps: the midday camp (Sprout Social, Hootsuite) and the evening camp (CoSchedule, RecurPost, SocialBu, older Tailwind guidance). Tailwind's newest data says neither camp matters much. Here is each study and how it was done.

SourceSample and dateBest timeBest daysWorst
Sprout Social (March 2026)Nearly 2 billion engagements, about 307,000 profiles, Nov 2025 to Feb 2026; local time10 a.m. to 1 p.m.Tuesday to ThursdayWeekends
Hootsuite (November 2025)Over 1 million posts across networks; 118 countries; time-zone agnosticNoonTuesday and FridayNot stated
CoSchedule (data from mid-2022)Sample not stated8 p.m., 4 p.m., 9 p.m., 3 p.m., 2 p.m.Sunday, Monday, TuesdayMidnight to 6 a.m.; Thursday to Saturday
RecurPost (September 2026)Own dataset; sample not stated8 to 10 p.m. most days, plus daytime windowsVaries1 to 6 a.m.
Tailwind (2023 to 2024 data)1.2 million organic Pins, 17,000+ accounts; outbound clicksNo universal best timeNo universal best dayInconsistent posting

Why do they disagree? Partly method: Sprout Social measures engagement in local time across its customers, CoSchedule's data is from 2022, and RecurPost does not publish a sample. Partly what they measure: engagement such as saves and reactions can peak at different times from outbound clicks, which is what Tailwind measured. And partly audience: business and B2B accounts dominate some tool customer bases, while bloggers and creators dominate others. Notably, Buffer's 2026 study of 52 million posts does not include Pinterest at all, despite being widely cited for it.

Best time to post on Pinterest by day of the week

The table puts Sprout Social's 2026 windows (local time) beside Hootsuite's daily peaks and RecurPost's evening windows. Use the column that matches the camp you are testing.

Weekdays

Sprout Social's best Pinterest days are Monday to Friday, with Tuesday to Thursday strongest. Its separate guide to scheduling Pins notes that Pinterest traffic rises around 10 a.m., "when people are browsing for inspiration," and that activity peaks between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekdays in its heatmap. If your audience plans during work breaks (business buyers, teachers, office workers), midday weekday slots make sense.

Evenings

The evening camp is built on how consumers browse at home. CoSchedule's top hour was 8 p.m., and RecurPost lists 8 to 10 p.m. on most days. Tailwind's own marketing course once suggested "8 PM to 11 PM on weekdays and 8 AM to 11 AM on weekends," while describing it as broad strokes. If your Pins are about recipes, home decor, fashion or crafts, test an evening slot against a midday one.

Weekends

Sprout Social rates weekends as the weakest days, while CoSchedule rates Sunday as the best and SocialBu says Saturday mornings "tend to be the strongest single window of the week." Weekends are the most audience-specific days on Pinterest: DIY, gardening and weekend-project audiences browse then, while B2B audiences do not.

Best time to post on Pinterest by season: the timing that matters most

Seasonality is where Pinterest timing really pays. People come to Pinterest to plan, so searches for a season, holiday or event rise well before the date itself. Sprout Social's guidance is to "start posting relevant content 45-60 days in advance to capture the initial surge in user searches," noting that "searches for summer recipes start in late spring."

Pinterest's own tool for this is Pinterest Trends. It shows up to the last two years of search, save and shopping trends, lets you compare up to four keywords, shows weekly, monthly and yearly change, and tells you whether a trend is seasonal. Its Moments feature highlights seasonal and cultural events, including "when people start planning around a Moment" and "how to time your campaigns relative to changes in demand." Use it to check every date in the calendar below against your own keywords and region.

MomentDateStart publishing (45 to 60 days ahead)Pin ideas

Thanksgiving (U.S.)Fourth Thursday of NovemberLate SeptemberRecipes, tables, hosting
Black Friday and giftingLate November to DecemberSeptember to early OctoberGift guides, product Pins
Christmas and New Year25 December and 1 JanuaryLate October to early NovemberDecor, recipes, outfits, goals

These lead times apply Sprout Social's 45-to-60-day rule; your Pinterest Trends data may show earlier or later starts for your keywords. A few practical notes. First, publish in a steady trickle across the lead-in, not all at once, so you have fresh Pins on the topic throughout the rise. Second, keep seasonal Pins live afterwards: Pins often resurface the following year, and Tailwind's CEO said viral Pins tend to peak one to two years after posting. Third, refresh the best performers each year with a new image and title rather than repinning the same file.

Using Pinterest Predicts

Pinterest Predicts is a once-a-year view of where taste is going. The 2026 edition named trends such as Glamoratti, Gimme Gummy, Mystic Outlands, Cool Blue, Pen Pals and Cabbage Crush, built from billions of searches and engagement signals. Pinterest says checkouts on content tied to its 2025 predictions rose 68% year over year. If one of the predicted trends fits your niche, start publishing for it months ahead rather than weeks, because Pinterest says its trends last nearly twice as long as elsewhere online.

Best time to post on Pinterest by niche

Niche changes both the daily window and the seasonal calendar. RecurPost publishes niche-specific daily windows; the seasonal column is our application of the lead-time rule.

Food and recipe creators

Food is Pinterest's most seasonal major niche. RecurPost's data puts food activity around 5 p.m., when people decide what to cook, but the bigger win is publishing holiday recipes six to eight weeks before the holiday. A recipe blogger who publishes Thanksgiving sides in early November is already late.

Beauty

Pinterest's Beauty Trend Report 2026, published on 6 October 2026, says 85% of weekly users surveyed discovered new beauty trends or ideas on Pinterest before seeing them elsewhere. It lists rising searches such as "polka dot cat eye nails" (up 1,585%) and "mocha balayage hair" (up 949%). For beauty brands, the right time to post is when a trend is rising on Pinterest, which is earlier than it peaks anywhere else.

Ecommerce and retail

Product Pins follow the shopping calendar. Pinterest's audience page says 96% of top searches are unbranded, so people are looking for ideas, not brand names, and its holiday page says 60% of users say Pinterest helps them make decisions at every stage of their festive shopping journey. Schedule gift guides and product Pins from September for the holiday season. Our guide to social media for ecommerce covers the wider channel mix.

Bloggers and publishers

For publishers, outbound clicks are the goal, which is exactly what Tailwind measured when it found no universal best time. Focus on a consistent daily cadence, keyword-rich titles and descriptions, and seasonal lead times. Tag every link with UTM parameters using our free UTM builder, so you can see which Pins send traffic rather than just saves.

Best time to post on Pinterest by audience

Pinterest's audience skews female and is getting younger. Pew Research Center's 2024 report, based on a 2023 survey of 5,733 U.S. adults, found women are far more likely to use Pinterest than men (50% vs 19%). Pinterest's audience page says its UK audience is 70% women aged 18 and over and 28% men, and that Gen Z is half its global user base.

Consumer audiences

Most Pinterest audiences are consumers planning their own lives: meals, homes, outfits, trips. They browse in the evening and at weekends. Start with an 8 p.m. weekday slot and a weekend morning, and compare them with a noon slot.

Business and B2B audiences

B2B use of Pinterest is smaller but real: designers, marketers, teachers and small-business owners save templates and resources. These audiences browse at work, so Sprout Social's 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekday window fits them better than the evening.

Gen Z

Pinterest says the main reason Gen Z uses the platform is to find information about products or brands. Younger users are more likely to browse in the evening and to search visually. Make sure your Pins are vertical, clear without text, and published ahead of the trends they relate to.

Best time to post on Pinterest by region

Pinterest's growth is international. In Q2 2026, 106 million monthly users were in the U.S. and Canada, 157 million in Europe and 377 million in the rest of the world, according to the Q2 2026 release. The same release shows a large revenue gap: Pinterest's quarterly filing puts average revenue per user at $8.30 in the U.S. and Canada against $1.35 in Europe and $0.23 elsewhere, per the 10-Q. For brands selling in North America, a North American time zone still matters most; for publishers chasing traffic, Europe and the rest of the world are where the growth is.

U.S. (all time zones)1 p.m. ET (10 a.m. PT)9 p.m. ET (6 p.m. PT), or 8 p.m. PTThanksgiving is U.S.-only; plan it separately

The seasonal column matters more than the clock here. An Australian audience planning summer recipes in December needs completely different Pins from a UK audience planning Christmas dinner, even if both are posted at 8 p.m. local time. Pinterest Trends lets you filter by region, though Pinterest notes some features are only available for certain regions.

Best time to post on Pinterest by account size

New accounts

A new Pinterest account has almost no followers, so its Pins are found through search and related Pins from day one. That is good news: you do not need an audience to be online at the moment you publish. What a new account needs is volume of fresh, well-described Pins over time, and boards with clear, searchable names. Start with one or two Pins a day at a midday slot and an evening slot, and judge results after a full month, not a week. Expect slow early numbers; Pinterest distribution builds over weeks.

Growing accounts

Once you have a few months of Pins, your own analytics become more useful than any study. Look at which Pins are still earning impressions and clicks months after publishing, and when in the year they took off. Those patterns tell you the lead time your niche really needs. This is also the stage to test the two daily slots properly, because you have enough Pins to compare medians. Some schedulers automate the choice: Hootsuite, for example, says its best-time feature uses your last 30 days of results, which is a reasonable approach for networks that move quickly but a short window for Pinterest, where a Pin's results can take longer than 30 days to arrive.

Established accounts and publishers

Large accounts have an archive that keeps working. Their timing question is less "what hour" and more "what to refresh, and when." Before each season, pull last year's best seasonal Pins, create new images and titles for them, and schedule them across the lead-in period. Keep the original Pins live. An established account that publishes three fresh Pins a day for its whole archive of evergreen content will usually beat one that chases a perfect hour with a single daily Pin.

How often to post on Pinterest

Frequency matters more on Pinterest than the hour, and the advice has changed. Tailwind's help centre now recommends "about 1-5 fresh Pins a day" and says "the older 15-25/day advice has been retired." It adds that "Pinterest also distributes Pins over days and weeks, so consistency matters more than hitting one perfect minute." Other vendors suggest more: SocialBu says most creators do best with 5 to 25 fresh Pins a day, and RecurPost suggests three to five a day for growth. We side with Tailwind's newer, data-backed range. Five strong, keyword-rich Pins a day spread across your test slots is plenty for most accounts, and one a day consistently beats ten a day for a week followed by silence.

"Fresh" means a new image, not a repin of the same file. A single blog post or product can support several fresh Pins with different images, headlines and crops. Our Pinterest image resizer helps produce the 2:3 versions, and our guide to Pinterest aspect ratios covers every format. For frequency across all networks, see how often to post on social media.

How to find your best time to post on Pinterest

Because the hour matters less than on other networks, the method below spends most of its effort on seasons and consistency. Read our glossary entry on the best time to post for the general concept.

  1. List your seasonal moments. Write down every holiday, season and event relevant to your niche for the next 12 months, and check each one in Pinterest Trends to see when searches start to rise in your region.
  2. Set your publish-from dates. For each moment, mark a start date 45 to 60 days before the search rise begins, and put it on your content calendar.
  3. Choose a daily cadence you can keep. One to five fresh Pins a day, every day, is better than bursts. Decide the number before you decide the times.
  4. Pick two daily slots to compare. One midday weekday slot (for example noon) and one evening slot (for example 8 p.m.) in your audience's time zone.
  5. Batch-create a month of Pins. Design fresh images, write titles and descriptions with the keywords people search, and set each Pin's board and destination link.
  6. Schedule the month in one sitting. Alternate Pins between the two slots so each slot gets a similar mix of topics.
  7. Measure at 30 days, not 24 hours. Pinterest Pins build slowly. Pinterest Analytics shows impressions, saves and outbound clicks, with custom date ranges going back about 18 months and real-time estimates for the last 48 hours. Compare each slot's Pins after a month.
  8. Judge on saves and outbound clicks. Saves signal that people want the idea; clicks are what drive traffic and sales. Our save rate and click-through rate glossary entries explain each metric.
  9. Keep the winner, but do not overfit. If one slot clearly wins, use it for your most important Pins. If the difference is small, which Tailwind's data suggests it often is, keep both and focus on content.
  10. Review each season. After every major moment, note which Pins performed and when the first saves arrived. Next year, start earlier for anything that took off late.

Worked example: a home decor shop

Take a fictional Leeds-based homeware shop, Fern and Folly, with 6,000 Pinterest followers and customers in the UK and U.S. It publishes three fresh Pins a day, alternating noon and 8 p.m. UK time. After a month, 8 p.m. Pins have slightly more saves and noon Pins slightly more outbound clicks, a difference too small to matter. The real change comes from seasonality: Pinterest Trends shows UK searches for autumn decor rising from mid-August, so the shop moves its autumn Pins forward from mid-September to early August and sees its autumn Pins start collecting saves weeks earlier than the year before.

Worked example: a recipe blogger

A fictional Ohio food blogger, Kitchen Table Kate, publishes five fresh Pins a day for recipes on her site. She tests 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern, and 5 p.m. wins on outbound clicks, in line with RecurPost's food finding. She also builds a Thanksgiving collection of 40 Pins and publishes it steadily from late September instead of in one batch in November.

How to schedule Pins with Postprism

Postprism is a social media scheduler that publishes to Pinterest and five other networks from one content calendar. It suits a seasonal Pinterest plan because you can see Pins for Halloween, Black Friday and Christmas laid out weeks ahead next to your LinkedIn, X and TikTok posts for the same campaigns.

For each Pin you add the image, a title, a description and a destination link, and choose the board. You set the date, time and time zone, and Postprism publishes the Pin through Pinterest's API at that moment, so Pins you plan in Postprism are not limited by the native scheduler's queue of 10. Postprism publishes image Pins. Track performance in Pinterest Analytics, which has the save and outbound-click data that matters most. The Pinterest publishing docs list the details. If you are comparing Pinterest-specific tools, our Tailwind alternative comparison sets out the differences. Postprism's AI adaptation is optional: it can rewrite one caption into a keyword-rich Pin description and a shorter LinkedIn post, but you can schedule everything without it.

Common mistakes when choosing a time to post on Pinterest

  1. Obsessing over the hour. Tailwind's 1.2-million-Pin study found timing did not predict success. Fix: pick reasonable slots and spend the effort on content and consistency.
  2. Publishing seasonal Pins too late. Posting Christmas content in December misses the planning phase. Fix: publish 45 to 60 days before searches rise, and check Pinterest Trends for your keywords.
  3. Posting in bursts. Twenty Pins on Sunday and nothing all week breaks the cadence Tailwind says matters. Fix: schedule a steady daily number.
  4. Repinning the same image as "fresh." Pinterest favours new images. Fix: create new designs, crops or headlines for the same link.
  5. Relying on the native scheduler for a busy calendar. It holds only 10 Pins, up to 30 days ahead. Fix: use a scheduler that can hold a full seasonal plan.
  6. Judging Pins after a day. Pins can take weeks to build and peak much later. Fix: measure at 30 days and again after the season.
  7. Deleting old seasonal Pins. They often resurface the next year. Fix: keep them live and refresh the best ones annually.
  8. Using U.S. dates for a non-U.S. audience. Thanksgiving, school terms and seasons differ by country. Fix: build a calendar per major region.
  9. Ignoring keywords. Pinterest works through search, so an unsearchable title wastes a perfect slot. Fix: put the terms people search in the title and description; our Pinterest character counter keeps them within limits.
  10. Measuring saves only. Saves are useful, but traffic is often the goal. Fix: track outbound clicks with UTM parameters.
  11. Chasing old frequency advice. The 15 to 25 Pins a day era is over. Fix: one to five fresh, high-quality Pins a day.
  12. Forgetting the image cannot be changed after scheduling. Pinterest's native scheduler lets you edit the text but not the image. Fix: finalise images before you schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best time to post on Pinterest in 2026?

Tuesday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to Sprout Social's 2026 data, or weekday evenings from 8 to 11 p.m., according to several other studies. Tailwind's study of 1.2 million Pins found no universal best time, so the season and your consistency matter more than the hour.

What is the best day to post on Pinterest?

Tuesday to Thursday in Sprout Social's 2026 study, and Tuesday and Friday in Hootsuite's. CoSchedule's older data favoured Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Weekends perform well for DIY, home and hobby audiences and poorly for business audiences.

Does the time you post on Pinterest matter?

Less than on any other major network. Pinterest prioritises searchability over recency, and Tailwind found timing did not predict which Pins drove clicks. Posting time is a tiebreaker; seasonal timing and a steady cadence of fresh Pins matter far more.

How far ahead should I post seasonal Pins?

About 45 to 60 days before the event, following Sprout Social's guidance, and earlier for long planning cycles such as weddings and major holidays. Check Pinterest Trends for your keywords to see exactly when searches start rising in your region.

How many Pins should I post per day?

One to five fresh Pins a day is a good range for most accounts, according to Tailwind, which says the older 15 to 25 Pins a day advice has been retired. Consistency every day matters more than volume on any single day.

How far in advance can you schedule Pins on Pinterest?

Pinterest's native scheduler lets you schedule a Pin up to 30 days in advance, with up to 10 Pins scheduled at once. Third-party schedulers that publish through Pinterest's API at the chosen time, such as Postprism, are not bound by that native queue.

How long does a Pin last?

Much longer than a post on other networks. Pins keep appearing in search and related Pins for months, and Tailwind's CEO said viral Pins tend to peak one to two years after they are posted.

Can I schedule Pins with Postprism?

Yes. Postprism schedules image Pins with a title, description, destination link and board from the same calendar as your other networks, in any time zone, and publishes them automatically. It does not publish video Pins.
