Definition: The best time to post is the day and hour when your own followers are most likely to be online and engage, which differs by platform, audience and time zone.

Why generic charts mislead

Industry charts average millions of accounts. A B2B audience on LinkedIn, a student audience on TikTok and a local café’s Instagram followers are online at very different times. Your own data beats any chart.

How to find yours

  • Check the audience activity view in Instagram, TikTok, Facebook or YouTube analytics.
  • Post the same kind of content at two or three different times for four weeks.
  • Compare reach and engagement rate per post, not totals.
  • Keep the winners as defaults in your scheduler and recheck every quarter.
Example

A café posting at 7 PM finds that 9:30 AM posts reach 40% more people, because regulars check Instagram while waiting for their morning coffee. Morning becomes the default slot.
