What is the best Bluesky scheduler in 2026? Postprism is the best Bluesky scheduler for most people, because it schedules Bluesky posts with clickable links, mentions and hashtags from the same calendar as X, LinkedIn and 3 other networks, connects with a revocable app password, and costs from $19 a month with unlimited posts.
Bluesky's own app does not schedule posts, so every option here is a third-party tool. Buffer is the best free starting point, Fedica suits Bluesky-focused writers on a budget, Publer and Metricool suit creators who want media and long threads, Typefully suits writers, SocialPilot suits agencies, Postiz suits developers, and Hootsuite and Sprout Social suit enterprise teams. Every price and capability below was checked on the vendor's own site in October 2026.
Key findings
- Bluesky is big enough to plan for. Bluesky's 2025 transparency report says the network grew from 25.94 million to 41.41 million users during 2025, and that users created 1.41 billion posts that year.
- There is no native scheduler. Bluesky's January 2026 roadmap post said "basic features like drafts are still missing". Scheduling on Bluesky means a third-party tool.
- Bluesky endorsed third-party scheduling early. In July 2024 Bluesky announced a partnership with Buffer for scheduling and cross-posting, and most major schedulers have since added it.
- Posts are short and links are special. A Bluesky post is capped at 300 characters, and links, mentions and hashtags only work when they are marked up as rich-text facets. A scheduler that pastes plain text can leave dead links and mentions.
- App passwords keep your account safe. Bluesky lets third-party apps sign in with an app password you can revoke, so you never hand over your main password.
- Prices range from free to $399 a user. Buffer and Fedica have free plans, Postprism covers 6 networks from $19 a month, and Hootsuite and Sprout Social start at $99 and $79 or more per user.
What changed for Bluesky scheduling in 2026
Bluesky grew up, and so did the tools
In 2024, scheduling Bluesky meant one or two tools and some workarounds. By 2026, Buffer, Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Metricool, Publer, SocialPilot, SocialBee and Vista Social all list Bluesky, alongside Bluesky-friendly tools such as Fedica, Typefully and Postiz. The question is no longer whether a tool supports Bluesky, but how well it fits the way you write and the other networks you run.
The app still has no scheduler
Bluesky's team has been open that basic features are still on the way. Until the app adds drafts and scheduling, any consistent posting routine runs through a third-party tool, which makes connection safety (app passwords) and rich-text handling (working links and mentions) the two things to check first.
Text networks multiplied
Many brands that once posted only to X now post to X, Threads, Bluesky and LinkedIn. Each has its own length limit and culture. A scheduler that holds a separate version for each in one post is what keeps four text networks from becoming four separate jobs.
AI assistants started scheduling posts
Writers increasingly draft with an AI assistant and want it to queue the result. Postprism's MCP server is on every plan, so Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor can create and schedule Bluesky posts with the same 300-character check as the composer. Postiz also offers an MCP server for developers.
Why schedule Bluesky posts?
Bluesky's default Following feed is chronological, and many people browse custom feeds that sort by recent posts. That makes timing matter more than on an algorithmic network: a post published while your followers are asleep can scroll past before they open the app. Scheduling lets you post when your audience is online, wherever you are. Our guide to the best time to post on Bluesky covers timing, and how the Bluesky algorithm works explains feeds.
Most people on Bluesky also post to X, Threads or LinkedIn. Writing the same idea three or four times, in three or four apps, is where the habit breaks. A scheduler that holds a Bluesky version next to the others is the difference between posting on Bluesky every day and posting when you remember.
The Bluesky rules every scheduler has to respect
These are the protocol rules that decide whether a scheduled Bluesky post publishes and looks right.
| What | Bluesky's rule | What to look for in a scheduler |
|---|---|---|
| Post text | 300 characters (graphemes) and 3,000 bytes | A Bluesky-specific counter, separate from X's 280 and Threads' 500 |
| Links | Must be marked up as link facets inside the text | Automatic detection, so every URL is clickable |
| Mentions | Must point to an account's identifier | Handle lookup at publish time, so the mention links to the right person |
| Hashtags | Up to 64 characters per tag, marked as tag facets | Hashtags typed in the text become tappable tags |
| Sign-in | App passwords, created in Bluesky settings and revocable | A tool that asks for an app password, never your main password |

How we evaluated Bluesky schedulers
- Connection. App password or Bluesky sign-in, and how many accounts.
- Rich text. Do links, mentions and hashtags work in the published post?
- Cross-network value. Can one idea carry a Bluesky version plus versions for X, Threads, LinkedIn and others?
- Team fit. Approvals, roles and client workspaces.
- Price. What a writer, a small team and an agency would pay.
We used each vendor's pricing page, Bluesky integration page and help centre in October 2026. Where a page did not say, we left the claim out.
The 10 best Bluesky schedulers, ranked
1. Postprism: best overall Bluesky scheduler
What it is. A social media scheduler that publishes to 6 networks (Bluesky, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube and Pinterest) from one content calendar, with month, week and day views and one-click rescheduling.
How it handles Bluesky. You connect with your handle and an app password, never your main password. The composer counts the Bluesky version as you type and marks it when it passes 300 characters. When the post publishes, Postprism finds every URL in the text and makes it clickable, looks up each @handle so the mention links to the right account, and turns every #hashtag into a tag that opens its feed.
Standout features.
- A Bluesky version of every idea. The Bluesky tab holds its own short, conversational text next to a LinkedIn story and an X post. Edit one and the others stay as they are. See multi-platform posting.
- Optional AI. Enhance with AI drafts a version for every selected network in one request, using your brand identity, and you edit before scheduling. See AI content adaptation.
- Bulk scheduling. Upload a CSV of up to 200 rows, or import XLSX and JSON through the scheduling assistant, to plan weeks of Bluesky posts at once. See bulk scheduling.
- Time zone per post. Schedule any future date and time in the time zone you choose.
- AI assistants. The MCP server on every plan lets Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor draft and schedule Bluesky posts for you. See AI agents.
- Teams. Freelancer and Agency add an Owner or Admin approval step and 3 or 10 workspaces, each with its own Bluesky account.
Who it is for. Writers, founders, small businesses and agencies who run Bluesky alongside X or LinkedIn and want each network to get a version written for it.
Pricing. $19 a month for Solo, $49 for Freelancer and $99 for Agency, or $14, $36 and $75 a month billed annually, all with unlimited posts and a 7-day free trial. Read more on the Bluesky scheduler page.
2. Buffer: best free plan
What it is. A simple, per-channel scheduler and Bluesky's launch partner for scheduling. Its pricing page says Bluesky profiles support automatic publishing and basic analytics.
Standout features. Buffer's Bluesky page lists text-only posts and posts with images, GIFs, links or threads, and says scheduling is free.
Limits. The free plan allows 3 channels with 10 scheduled posts each. Per-channel pricing adds up as you add networks.
Pricing. Free, then $5 per channel a month on Essentials and $10 on Team, or $60 and $120 a year per channel, with a 14-day trial, checked October 2026. See our Buffer alternative page.

Limits. One account per platform, and follower caps on paid plans (100,000 combined on Publish and Grow).
Pricing. Free for up to 10 scheduled posts at a time, then Publish at $15 a month ($10 annually), Grow at $29 ($19 annually) and Research at $129 ($79 annually), per Fedica's plans page, checked October 2026.

4. Publer: best for threads, reposts and quote posts
What it is. A low-cost scheduler with Bluesky on its plans page.
Standout features. Its Bluesky integration lists posts, threads and videos, scheduled reposts and quote posts, alt text and language options. Its thread help article describes threads of up to 25 posts, a "wrap the thread" option that links back to the start, and follow-ups triggered by a delay or by engagement.
Limits. The free plan covers 3 accounts (excluding X) with 10 scheduled posts per account.
Pricing. Professional from $5 a month for one account with a 7-day trial, Business from $10 with a 14-day trial, 20% off yearly, per Publer's plans help article, checked October 2026. See our Publer alternative page.
Best for creators who rely on threads and want to re-share their best posts automatically.
5. Metricool: best budget pick with analytics
What it is. A planner with analytics, priced by brand. Its help centre says Bluesky is available in all Metricool plans.

Best for writers and founders who think in threads and post mainly to text networks.
7. SocialPilot: best for agencies on a budget

Standout features. Its Bluesky help article lists 300-character posts, link posts, up to 4 images under 976 KB each, GIFs and video under 50 MB and 3 minutes (with a verified email).
Limits. No free plan; Bluesky allows no more than 30 posts in 5 minutes through SocialPilot.
Pricing. Essentials at $30 a month (7 accounts, 1 user), Standard at $50 (15 accounts, 3 users), Premium at $100 and Ultimate at $200, or 15% less billed annually, with a 14-day trial, checked October 2026. See our SocialPilot alternative page.

Pricing. Standard at $29 a month (5 channels), Team at $39 (10), Pro at $49 (30) and Ultimate at $99 (100), or $23, $31, $39 and $79 billed annually, with a 7-day trial, checked October 2026.
Best for developers who want to host their own scheduler.
9. Hootsuite: best for enterprise listening

The Bluesky app vs a scheduler
| Question | Bluesky app | Postprism |
|---|---|---|
| When does a post go out? | When you press Post | Any future date and time, in your time zone |
| How do you sign in? | Your Bluesky account | An app password you can revoke at any time |
| Can one idea go to other networks? | No, Bluesky only | Yes, with a separate version for 5 more networks |
| Where do you see what is planned? | Your profile's post history | A month, week and day calendar |
| Team approval? | Post from each account directly | Owner or Admin approval on Freelancer and Agency |
| Cost | Free | From $19 a month, unlimited posts |
The app stays the best place for live replies and quick reactions. A scheduler covers the planned posts that keep your account active every day.
Why links and mentions break in scheduled Bluesky posts
This is the Bluesky-specific problem most people only notice after a post goes out. On X or Threads, the network reads your text and turns URLs and @handles into links on its side. On Bluesky, the post itself has to say where each link, mention and hashtag starts and ends, as byte ranges called facets. If a tool sends plain text, the URL appears as grey, unclickable text and the @handle points nowhere.
Mentions add a second step. A facet does not store the handle you typed; it stores the account's permanent identifier, which the tool has to look up. Handles can change, so the lookup has to happen when the post publishes, not when you wrote it a week earlier. Postprism does exactly that: it finds every URL in your Bluesky text, resolves each @handle at publish time, and marks every #hashtag as a tag, so the post looks the same as one written in the Bluesky app.
Two practical checks before you commit to any tool:
- Schedule a test post with a link, a mention and a hashtag, then open it in the Bluesky app and tap each one.
- Count characters the Bluesky way. The limit is 300 graphemes, so an emoji or an accented letter counts as one character even when it takes several bytes. A tool built for X's 280 will cut you short.
Bluesky scheduling by industry
- Media and newsletters. Bluesky has a strong audience of journalists and readers. Schedule a short post for each new article with a clickable link and a sentence on why it matters, and spread them through the day.
- Tech and developer tools. Developers were early to Bluesky. Changelog notes, short tips and links to docs work well; keep the tone plain and skip the hype.
- Academics and researchers. Many researchers moved to Bluesky. Schedule posts about new papers and talks, mention co-authors by their Bluesky handles, and use a field hashtag.
- Creators and artists. Pair Bluesky text posts with the same idea on Instagram or Threads, and use Bluesky for conversation and links to your work.
- B2B and SaaS. Lead with LinkedIn for the long story, then a short Bluesky take that makes one point. See Postprism for B2B marketing.
How to choose a Bluesky scheduler
By who is posting
| You are | Pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A writer posting mostly on Bluesky | Fedica or Typefully | Thread-focused tools built for text networks |
| A founder or creator on Bluesky, X and LinkedIn | Postprism Solo | A version per network from one post, for $19 a month |
| A small business on two or three channels | Buffer free, or Postprism as you add networks | Free to start; flat price beyond three channels |
| A freelancer or agency | Postprism Freelancer or Agency | Client workspaces, approvals and Viewer access for clients |
| A developer who wants control | Postiz, or Postprism's REST API and MCP server | Self-hosting, or an API on a hosted scheduler |
| An enterprise brand | Hootsuite or Sprout Social | Listening and reporting around publishing |
By how you write
- Short standalone posts. The core of Bluesky. What matters is a version written for Bluesky, under 300 characters, with links and mentions that work.
- Long threads. If multi-post threads are your style, compare Fedica, Publer, Metricool and Typefully, which document thread support.
- Cross-network takes. If the same idea goes to X, Threads and LinkedIn, choose a scheduler with separate text per network in one post. Our guide on writing for multiple platforms shows how.
By how much you trust the tool
Bluesky's app passwords exist so you never have to hand your main password to a third party. Prefer tools that connect with an app password, and revoke it in Bluesky's settings if you stop using the tool. Postprism connects with your handle and an app password only.
Worked example: one idea on Bluesky, X and LinkedIn
Quillmark is a small newsletter tool. Its idea for the week: "Most newsletters lose readers because they send at random times." Here is how it becomes three posts in Postprism, edited after Enhance with AI drafted them.
| Network | Version |
|---|---|
| Bluesky | "Unpopular opinion: your newsletter's send day matters more than its subject line. Readers build a habit around it. Ours jumped when we stopped moving it around. What day do you send? #newsletters" |
| X | "Pick a send day and never move it. Habit beats subject lines." |
| A 1,000-character story about the test, the numbers and the lesson, ending with a question, plus a link to the full write-up |
The Bluesky version stays under 300 characters, uses one hashtag that becomes a tappable tag, and mentions nobody who is not on Bluesky. Total time: about 20 minutes for three posts.
How to tell whether your Bluesky schedule is working
| Metric | What it tells you | Signal to change something |
|---|---|---|
| Replies | Whether the post starts a conversation | Likes without replies: end with a real question |
| Reposts and quotes | Whether the idea is worth sharing | Few reposts: make one clear, quotable point |
| Likes in the first hour | Whether the time suits your followers | Slow starts every time: move the posting time |
| New followers per week | Whether your topics build an audience | Flat growth: post more on topics that earn follows |
| Link clicks | Whether Bluesky sends traffic | Few clicks: say why the link is worth opening |
For growth tactics, see how to get more Bluesky followers. Our glossary entries on engagement rate and best time to post explain the measures.
Bluesky, X and Threads: one idea, three limits
| Network | Text limit | Culture |
|---|---|---|
| Bluesky | 300 characters | Conversational, sceptical of marketing, strong niche communities and custom feeds |
| X | 280 characters on a standard account | Fast, news-driven, one sharp idea per post |
| Threads | 500 characters, up to 5 links | Questions and opinions that invite replies |
Write the X version first, then loosen it for Bluesky with a more personal tone, and add a question for Threads. Sources: Bluesky's post lexicon and Meta's Threads API documentation.
A simple weekly Bluesky plan you can schedule in one sitting
- Monday: a question for your niche. Bluesky's communities reward people who start conversations.
- Tuesday: a useful link. Share an article or resource with one sentence on why it is worth reading. Make sure the link is clickable when it publishes.
- Wednesday: an opinion. One clear take in two sentences.
- Thursday: a behind-the-scenes post. Something you learned or built this week.
- Friday: a shout-out. Mention someone on Bluesky whose work you value, using their Bluesky handle.
Batch all five on Monday in Postprism, add X or LinkedIn versions where the idea fits, and leave 15 minutes after each post to reply. Our guide to building a social media content calendar shows how to keep it going.
Scheduling Bluesky for clients and teams
Agencies, newsrooms and in-house teams need more than a schedule button. Each client's Bluesky account, calendar and drafts should live apart; someone should approve posts before they go out; and clients should be able to look without editing. In Postprism, each workspace connects its own Bluesky account, Freelancer and Agency plans include 3 or 10 workspaces with an Owner or Admin approval step, and clients can be invited as read-only Viewers. See team collaboration and Postprism for agencies.
Bluesky scheduling mistakes to avoid
- Pasting your X post unchanged. Fix: Bluesky's audience dislikes marketing speak; write a conversational version.
- Going over 300 characters. Fix: use a tool with a Bluesky-specific counter, or our Bluesky character counter.
- Mentions that do not exist on Bluesky. Fix: an @handle from X will not link on Bluesky; use the person's Bluesky handle or none.
- Dead links. Fix: use a scheduler that marks up links as facets so they are clickable.
- Handing over your main password. Fix: create an app password in Bluesky's settings for each tool.
- Hashtag walls. Fix: one or two relevant hashtags at most.
- Scheduling and disappearing. Fix: Bluesky is conversational; plan time to reply after posts go live.
- Ignoring the chronological feed. Fix: schedule for when your followers are online, not when you finish writing.
- Treating Bluesky as an X mirror. Fix: give it its own version in every multi-network post.
