Is SocialPilot or Hootsuite better? SocialPilot vs Hootsuite, in short: choose SocialPilot if you are an agency or multi-location brand that wants many accounts, client approvals and white-label reports for $25.50 to $170 a month; choose Hootsuite if a larger team needs a deep inbox, social listening and ads management and can pay $99 to $399 per user a month. For most brands, freelancers and small agencies posting one brand to many networks, Postprism is the better pick than either: all 6 networks for one brand cost $19 a month flat, approvals start at $49, and one Enhance with AI request writes a version of the post for every network.
SocialPilot and Hootsuite are both long-running social media management tools, and they solve the same core job: plan posts, schedule them to several networks and measure what happened. They price that job in opposite ways. SocialPilot sells plans sized by the number of connected social accounts, with a small fee for every extra account. Hootsuite sells seats, so every person on the team is another monthly charge, and the features you get depend on which seat tier you buy. That single difference decides most of the comparison. This guide puts the two side by side on price, networks, AI, analytics, team approvals, inbox and agent access, using each vendor's own pricing and product pages as viewed in October 2026, then runs the numbers for four realistic setups and shows where a third option fits better.
Key findings
- SocialPilot prices by account count. SocialPilot's plans page lists Essentials at $25.50 a month billed yearly ($30 monthly) for 7 accounts and 1 user, Standard at $42.50 ($50) for 15 accounts and 3 users, Premium at $85 ($100) for 25 accounts and 6 users, and Ultimate at $170 ($200) for 50 accounts and unlimited users. Extra accounts are $4 a month and extra users $5 (checked October 2026).
- Hootsuite prices by user. Hootsuite's plans page lists Standard at $99, Professional at $199 and Advanced at $399 per user a month, billed annually, with Enterprise on request (checked October 2026). Standard connects up to 10 social accounts; the higher plans are unlimited.
- Approvals are far cheaper on SocialPilot. SocialPilot includes content and manager approval workflows from Standard ($42.50 billed yearly). Hootsuite's post approval workflows start on Advanced, at $399 per user a month.
- Hootsuite's inbox and listening go much deeper. Every Hootsuite plan includes a shared inbox, 7-day Quick Search listening and competitive benchmarking, while SocialPilot's Social Inbox starts on Standard and it lists no listening module.
- Both connect to AI agents. SocialPilot lists an official MCP server on all paid plans. Hootsuite offers MCP servers for publishing, inbox, listening and advocacy, and its plan table lists the Lumen listening connector on Enterprise only.
- Postprism stays flat. Solo is $19 a month for one brand on all 6 networks, Freelancer $49 for 3 brands and 3 members with approvals, and Agency $99 for 10 brands and 10 members. See pricing.

Pricing compared (checked October 2026)
Both vendors publish their prices, which makes the comparison straightforward. The trouble is that they measure different things, so the cheaper tool depends entirely on how many accounts and how many people you have.
SocialPilot pricing (October 2026)
From SocialPilot's plans page and its agent-readable pricing summary, in US dollars:
| Plan | Billed yearly | Billed monthly | Accounts | Users | AI credits |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Essentials | $25.50/month | $30/month | 7 | 1 | 500 |
| Standard | $42.50/month | $50/month | 15 | 3 | 1,000 |
| Premium | $85/month | $100/month | 25 | 6, plus unlimited client seats | 5,000 |
| Ultimate | $170/month | $200/month | 50 | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Enterprise | Contact sales | Contact sales | Custom | Unlimited | Unlimited |
Extra social accounts cost $4 a month each and extra users $5. Annual billing saves about 15%. The important detail is what each tier leaves out: Essentials has no analytics, no inbox, no approvals and no bulk scheduling, so most teams end up on Standard or Premium.
Hootsuite pricing (October 2026)
From Hootsuite's plans page, which shows annual billing and excludes tax:
| Plan | Price | Social accounts | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | $99 per user/month, billed annually | 10 | Unlimited scheduling, Wisdom AI, a shared inbox, brand and competitor monitoring |
| Professional | $199 per user/month, billed annually | Unlimited | Inbox automations, 30-day listening search, 90-day trend forecasting, custom reports |
| Advanced | $399 per user/month, billed annually | Unlimited | Post approval workflows, internal comments, message assignment, team productivity reports |
| Enterprise | Custom | Unlimited | SSO, advanced listening, employee advocacy, attribution and expert onboarding |
Hootsuite also offers monthly billing at a higher per-user rate, but its plans page only displays the annual prices, so we use those here. The trial is 14 days with a daily posting limit of 10 to 20 posts per organisation, and bulk scheduling is switched off until you pay.
Four real setups, priced
The clearest way to compare per-account and per-user pricing is to price real situations. Each row uses the cheapest plan on each vendor's page that covers the setup. SocialPilot figures are monthly billing with yearly billing in brackets; Hootsuite figures are billed annually.
| Setup | SocialPilot | Hootsuite | Postprism |
|---|---|---|---|
| One person, one brand on 5 networks | $30 ($25.50) on Essentials, without analytics; $50 ($42.50) on Standard for analytics | $99 on Standard | $19 on Solo, analytics included |
| One person, one brand on 6 networks | $30 ($25.50) on Essentials | $99 on Standard (10 accounts) | $19 on Solo |
| Three people, three brands on 7 networks each (21 accounts), with approvals | $74 ($66.50) on Standard plus 6 extra accounts | $1,197 on Advanced (3 x $399) | $49 on Freelancer |
| Ten people, ten brands on 5 networks each (50 accounts), with approvals | $200 ($170) on Ultimate | $3,990 on Advanced (10 x $399) | $99 on Agency |
What the numbers say: SocialPilot is cheaper than Hootsuite in every one of these setups, and the gap widens fast once approvals are needed, because Hootsuite puts approvals on its top self-serve plan and multiplies that price by every seat. Hootsuite only starts to look reasonable when one or two people need its inbox, listening and ads tools, which SocialPilot does not match. Postprism is the lowest in all four rows because it charges neither per account nor per user: each workspace connects one account on each of the 6 networks, and the plan price covers the whole team.
Feature by feature
1. Publishing and networks
Network coverage is close. SocialPilot's supported networks are Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, Threads, TikTok, Pinterest, YouTube, Google Business Profile and Bluesky. Hootsuite's network integrations page lists Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, Pinterest and Bluesky, a Google My Business app for posts and reviews, and WhatsApp messages in its inbox. Hootsuite publishes Instagram feed posts, carousels and Reels, and can post to Facebook Pages and groups.
On the publishing workflow, SocialPilot includes a Smart Queue, platform-specific posts, First Comment, LinkedIn document publishing, repeat posts, a content library and a browser extension on every plan. Hootsuite includes unlimited scheduling, a calendar and list view, recommended times to publish, Canva and Adobe Express templates, a media library and a link-in-bio tool on every plan, and adds suspending scheduled posts on Advanced.
Bulk scheduling is where the plans diverge. Hootsuite's Bulk Composer takes up to 350 posts per CSV on every paid plan, though not during the trial. SocialPilot puts bulk scheduling and CSV upload on Premium and above, at $85 a month billed yearly, which is a real cost for smaller teams that plan in spreadsheets.
Edge: Hootsuite, narrowly, for bulk scheduling on every plan and its wider Instagram and Facebook formats. SocialPilot is close on networks and includes more scheduling conveniences at its entry price.
2. AI writing
SocialPilot's AI Assistant writes captions, drafts posts and improves existing ones, with 500 AI credits on Essentials, 1,000 on Standard, 5,000 on Premium and unlimited on Ultimate. Hootsuite runs Wisdom AI on every plan: it generates captions for each network, repurposes top-performing posts, suggests hashtags and refines tone, length and grammar. Hootsuite's plan table lists 100 AI credits a month on Standard, Professional and Advanced, with custom limits on Enterprise.
The credit numbers favour SocialPilot by a wide margin, though a credit is not necessarily the same unit on both tools. In practice both assistants work the same way: you ask for a caption, adjust it, and repeat for the next network.
Edge: SocialPilot for credit volume; Hootsuite for AI that also reaches into the inbox and listening data.
3. Analytics and reporting
Hootsuite includes analytics on every plan: post performance reports, multi-network reporting, industry benchmarking, best-times-to-publish charts and benchmarking against 5 competitors on Standard. Professional adds customisable reports, PDF and PowerPoint exports, scheduled reports and 20 competitors. Advanced adds CSV and XLSX exports, your logo on reports and sending reports to external email addresses.
SocialPilot leaves analytics out of Essentials. Standard adds social media analytics, post performance, PDF, email and scheduled reports. Premium adds custom, competitor and white-label reports, which matter to agencies that send branded reports to clients.
Edge: Hootsuite for depth and benchmarking; SocialPilot for white-label client reports at a lower price.
4. Team and approvals
This is the biggest practical difference. SocialPilot's Standard plan ($42.50 billed yearly, 3 users) includes content approval and manager approval workflows. Premium ($85, 6 users) adds client management, client approval workflows and unlimited client seats, so clients can approve without taking a paid user slot. Internal comments are on every plan.
Hootsuite keeps post approval workflows and internal comments for Advanced, at $399 per user a month. Below that, Standard and Professional teams share accounts with user permissions but no approval step. Hootsuite's team features are aimed at larger care and marketing teams: message assignment, skill-based routing and team productivity reporting on Advanced, and SSO on Enterprise.
Edge: SocialPilot, clearly, for agencies and small teams that need sign-off before a post goes live.
5. Inbox and engagement
Hootsuite was built around its inbox, and it shows. Every plan includes an all-in-one inbox with saved replies, inbox search, conversation notes, message masking and cross-channel history. Professional adds DM automations, auto-responses, tags, topics and AI smart replies; Advanced adds assignment, routing, agent chat and satisfaction surveys. Listening starts on Standard with a 7-day Quick Search and sentiment analysis, and Enterprise adds Lumen, Talkwalker-powered listening across more than 150 million sources.
SocialPilot's Social Inbox starts on Standard and covers replies to comments, messages and stories, with inbox automation. Its pricing summary does not list social listening.
Edge: Hootsuite, by some distance, for customer care and listening.
6. API and MCP for AI agents
SocialPilot's MCP server is available on all paid plans and lets Claude or another MCP client create posts, save drafts, schedule, check queued and published posts and spot undelivered ones. Its API is only offered on Enterprise.
Hootsuite offers four MCP servers, one for each product: Perch for publishing, Nest for the inbox, Lumen for listening and Parliament for employee advocacy, with pre-built connectors for ChatGPT and Claude and server URLs for Gemini and Copilot. Its plan table lists the Lumen MCP connector on Enterprise only and does not state plan limits for the others. Hootsuite also has a REST API that requires an approved developer account.
Edge: A tie. SocialPilot puts scheduling through MCP within reach of every paid plan; Hootsuite covers more of its product with MCP and has an open API.
7. Mobile and extras
Both tools have iOS and Android apps. SocialPilot lists mobile apps, a browser extension, Canva, Slack, Zapier, Google Drive, Dropbox, Box and Unsplash integrations on every plan. Hootsuite's mobile apps let you draft, schedule and publish posts and reply to or assign messages, and its plans include ads publishing and boosting on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and X.
Who should choose SocialPilot
- Agencies with many client accounts. Premium gives 25 accounts, 6 users, unlimited client seats, client approvals and white-label reports for $85 a month billed yearly.
- Multi-location brands. Google Business Profile posting and account-based pricing suit brands with many local pages.
- Small teams that need approvals. Approval workflows start on Standard at $42.50 billed yearly for 3 users.
- Anyone who wants a lot of AI credits. 500 credits on Essentials and unlimited on Ultimate.
Who should choose Hootsuite
- Brands that run customer care on social. The shared inbox, automations, routing and satisfaction surveys are the deepest of the two.
- Teams that need listening and benchmarking. Quick Search, sentiment analysis and competitor benchmarking start on Standard, with Lumen on Enterprise.
- Marketers who also run paid social. Ads publishing, reporting and boosting sit alongside organic posts on every plan.
- Larger organisations. SSO, compliance integrations, employee advocacy and expert onboarding are on Enterprise.
A third option: Postprism
SocialPilot and Hootsuite both price around a unit that grows with you: accounts on SocialPilot, people on Hootsuite. For the most common situation, one brand or a handful of brands posting to many networks, neither unit is a good fit. An eighth account already takes a brand past SocialPilot's 7-account Essentials plan, and a team of three needing approvals costs $1,197 a month on Hootsuite. Postprism is built for exactly this case, and it is the better fit than either tool for brands, freelancers and small agencies that want to publish one brand to many networks at a flat price.
- One brand on all six networks for $19. A workspace connects one account on each of LinkedIn, X, TikTok, YouTube, Bluesky and Pinterest. Solo is $19 a month with unlimited posts. More brands means more workspaces: Freelancer is $49 for 3 workspaces and 3 members, and Agency is $99 for 10 of each. See pricing.
- A version for every network in one request. Write the post once and click Enhance with AI: one request returns a separate, editable version for each network you selected, shaped by your brand identity. That replaces the caption-per-network loop on both SocialPilot and Hootsuite. Plans include 150, 500 or 2,000 adaptations a month. See AI content adaptation.
- Approvals from $49. Owner, Admin, Editor and Viewer roles, with an approval step and request-changes notes on Freelancer and Agency. See team collaboration.
- Bulk Upload and analytics on every plan. Bulk Upload takes a CSV of up to 200 rows and 2 MB per file from Solo, and analytics cover 30, 60 or 90 days on every plan, with CSV export on Agency. See bulk scheduling.
- Your AI agent can run it. The hosted MCP server gives Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other MCP clients 11 tools to list workspaces, upload media, create and edit posts and read analytics, on every plan. The REST API is on Freelancer and Agency. See AI agents.
Postprism also publishes natively to each network: LinkedIn posts to profiles and Company Pages, X posts with up to 4 images, TikTok video and photo posts, full YouTube uploads with title, tags, playlist and thumbnail, Bluesky text posts and Pinterest image Pins. The calendar shows every post in month, week or day view across all of them.

The verdict
SocialPilot is the better value of the two for agencies and small teams: approvals from $42.50, client approvals and white-label reports from $85, and plenty of AI credits, all priced by account count rather than by person. Hootsuite is the better platform for larger teams that live in the inbox, need listening and run ads, provided the per-user price of $99 to $399 a month fits the budget. For most brands, freelancers and small agencies posting one brand to many networks, Postprism is the best pick of the three: $19 a month flat for all 6 networks, a version of every post for each network from one Enhance with AI request, approvals from $49 and an MCP server on every plan.
